Equipment used to remove moisture from materials through a drying process. It consists of a rotating cylinder that heats and dries the material fed into it. The rotary dryer consists of a rotating drum, normally inclined, where the wet material is introduced at the highest end and is gradually moved towards the lowest end by the rotating movement of the cylinder. During this process, heat is applied to the material through external heat sources such as gas burners or electric heaters, and hot air is introduced into the drum to accelerate moisture evaporation. As material moves through the drum, moisture is gradually evaporated, resulting in a dry end product. Rotary dryers are widely used in various industries, such as the production of food, fertilizers, chemicals, minerals, among others.
